Hard to crank

Have a briggs 24 HP v twin model 445677 that is hard to crank. New starter and battery. I have found out that if I hand turn crank till piston is just over TDC it will crank and start.Am wondering if there is a compression release in this model.I think it is only on one cylinder as it turns over will till I get to hard part.

Adjust the valves. This should solve your problem.

How do you adjust the valves on this engine? Is it easy to do? I am having the same problem with a Twin Briggs

I just took the valve cover off and think 15mm wrench and 30 torques. I need to redo mind as I didn't get the clearance right. Left one to loose and still hangs up a little.
