Riding mower conversion

I have an old Craftsman rear engine riding mower. I want to turn it into a yard buggy that looks like a model a rat rod. My question is can I get a narrower rim for the tires. Front tires are currently on a a 4 inch rim. Would like to go at least to a 6 inch spoked wheel. The steering is set up in such a way that I can't put a larger tire on it unless it is around 2 inches wide. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

You're custom making so you can use anything you want. One of the big things is to look at how your wheels are mounted so you can find a compatible wheel. You might even need to change your hub/spindle to match the wheels you want.

Only you can see the obstructions for a particular wheel selection and the effort required to get around the obstruction. Sorry but can't help. Good luck.

I recently finished a custom wheel changeover on a 1963 Cushman. I got a lot of help, but I think the key was that I had a photo of the wheels and tires that I wanted to get, and adapt to use, which took some time, but eventually I got there. If you can get a photo of your target rims, tires, and axles into the forum, you might be amazed what is involved, as well as amazed on how others can get involved to help you!
