Toro Super Recycler Transmission Issue

I have a SR4 20057, model number. The self propel works somewhat, but when you go to pull it in reverse the wheels hang up. This happens randomly, Iíve taken the gear assembly apart and centerlined both wheel assemblies by looking at the parts diagram, to make sure they are put together properly. The last time I had the transmission apart to change the grease it looked okay at a glance. Any ideas? This thing is driving me nuts.

Assuming that you are trying to pull the unit backwards and it is not releasing and allowing you to do so, welcome to the club. This problem is not in the transmission but more likely in the myriad of small parts that encircle the axles on both sides that allow the personal pace system to work. These have to be squeeky clean, in good repair, and assembled correctly. You have to almost be a watch repairman to get them apart, and back together in the right order. Go to see the dealer before you seek psychiatric help!
