Lawn mower dies after a few minutes

Hi, lawn mower starts OK but after a few minutes stutters and eventually dies. It will then start again but rinse and repeat. I had not replaced the plug and air filter in a couple years so did that with no luck. I have a 5 yr, old Craftsman push mower (Briggs and Stratton 163cc OHV) . I don't think its the gas because the gas is new and I always use ethanol free. Anything else I can check? Thanks in advance.

Try running it with the fuel cap loose the cap vent may be clogged and creating a vacuum in the tank. Have a good one. Geo

Thanks for the tip. Unscrewed the cap and ran it while it was just sitting on top. Actually got about 10 minutes of mowing and then it sputtered and died. From there it would only start for a couple seconds before sputtering out after each attempt.

Check fuel flow into the carb bowl. Sounds like there is a restriction keeping the bowl from filling as fast as it is used by the engine.

I took the carb out and found a bunch of gas in the bowl. Also took it apart and sprayed with carb cleaner. First mow after was a success. Fingers crossed.
