Question

I am in need of a wiring diagram or for a wizard riding lawn mower. The model # is AYP7124A59. Or if nothing else, tell me if the generator from an I/C Briggs and Straton engine requires a regulator before it is connected to a 6-volt battery. The charging system on this mower has been completed cut out of the wiring harness. This mower will not do me any good unless I can get the battery to charge. Thank you for any reply.

Hello and Welcome Shady to the Do It Yourself Web Site and my Small Engine forum.

Yes. A regulator is required. Without it the battery will overchange and distroy itself. Over charging will cause case bulging and overheating which distroys the plates. The battery will quickly become history.

I do not have nor know of where to find the exact wiring diagram for your mower. However, purchase a 6 volt mower regulator from a local lawn mower repair shop. If should come with basic wiring instructions.

From there you can fabricate wiring to accomplish the task of charging the battery.

Contact B&S and ask them on their tech forum.

If not, they have a few good books at most local libraries. I just had one out put out by B&S, it was excellent!!! Most libraries have it.
