Simplicity Tractor Bevel Gear box

I have a 1978 Simplicity Tractor model # 1690333 that I use to plow snow. I was servicing it for work this winter and noticed that a "Bevel Gear" box (sits on top of the Six Speed manual gear box that uses 90 wt gear oil) was a bit low on its dip stick. The manual calls for a Simplicity PN 1685092 Oil, OR any good tractor Hydraulic Oil. I have some oil left over from a hydraulic jack that I rebuilt last year. Any reason why that would not be a good substitute in this application?
