Toro Drive Failure

Toro front wheel LM lost traction. I replaced belt, the pulley and now a new transmission. Still no joy. What else can I check on?

Is the cable working the transmission engagement? Are the wheels engaged with the axles?

When you pull the cable the wheel rotate slowly then when you drop the mower front they stop. I have adjusted the cable all the way up, down, in between, back to where it always was set at with the same result.

Sounds like the cable isn't pulling tight enough. Check for obstructions keeping the belt from being tight, etc...

What is the drive pulley (engine) to belt look like, if that is slipping then no power will be delivered!

Should be a removable cover over the belt and over the transmission. Take the cover off (two bolts) remove the belt from the transmission Pulley. Raise the mower up and set it on a couple of blocks. Turn the transmission pulley by hand and see of the wheels turn. then see if they turn after putting some resistance on them. If they turn after doing this your problem is upstream from the pulley. If they don't turn with resistance your problem is somewhere downstream from the transmission.

They don't turn with resistance. And this is a new transmission. If I rotate the wheels forward, they lock, but they freely rotate backwards. What's

The drive pulley on the engine is newly installed.

Cable line seems straight after inspection

If you spin the pulley on top of the transmission, what does the axle do? If it spins ok, go out to the ends where the small gears on each side engage the wheels.

If I spin the pulley nothing happens to the axle.Only if I push and hold the pulley at a certain angle does the trans get engaged.

Well, ten guys here might disagree with me, but I would say without looking at it that you have a bad transmission, even though it is new. If you got it from Toro, they should replace it for you. If it is chinese.......

Did you ever get to the bottom of what the problem actually was with your Toro?
