AFTER 26 YEARS THE RECOIL (VERTICAL PULL)STARTER ON MY MOWER FAILED.I UNSCREWED THE TWO SCREWS, AND FOUND THE BIG SPRING INSIDE WAS BROKE.I PUT VISE GRIPS ON IT AND REMOVED THE 5/16" LEFT HAND THREADED BOLT.MY MODEL #131.907320
SERIAL# 11226--179349. I'M GOING TOMMORROW TO GET A NEW ONE,IS THERE ANYTHING I NEED TO KNOW WHEN I GO TO INSTALL THE NEW ONE? ANY INFO WILL BE APPRECIATED,THANKS DOBOY

The best suggestion would be to also purchase a generic repair manual for the engine brand of the mower.
The repair manual will be able to explain in clear text the steps needed to complete the repair, far better there any text in a forum format such as this. The manual will also have pictures detailing the steps and correct proceedures.
Another important aspect is the correct method for installing a new coil spring and the safety precautions required to insure safe handling. Another aspect a text only format cannot provide.
Once the task is completed, you will have performed a do-it-yourself task not often found in this forum. Post back your results and any tips you care to share with this forum.
