Working on fixing up an old Craftsman engine for school. Can't find the model number in the back of all 3 Tecumseh books. The number is 143.501011. Any one know anything about this engine?

Hello and Welcome jeaugust to the Do-It-Yourself Web Site and my Small Engine forum.
The number you posted is the Craftsman {Sears} part number. It's too old for my current records to show the Tecumseh engine model. Maybe one of the currently working in the trade persons in the will have it.
The generic version of Tecumseh repairs manuals do not often contain model number conversions. Numbers are not always needed in this forum.
Kindly discribe the engine problem, in complete detail and maybe we can help you correct it.

Yes, it is a Series H22 Lauson/Tecumseh engine.
That Sears number converts to an H22 engine from Tecumseh.
Additionally, if you go to Sears' website (www.sears.com) and then click "parts", you can enter your model # an it will tell you what parts are still available and give you an exploded diagram, prices, etc. I just checked this model # and it does come up .
You could also contact Tecumseh (Lauson Power Products) and they should be able to help as well.
Not sure what you need to know about it, but that should get you started.
