checking spark plug

To check arc for spark plug. I removed spark plug & had someone turn the motor over; I put plug wire back on & held plug with insulated pliers & touched plug on steel frame. Is this enough to get plug to arc.Or is there a better way.

If the plug is good, it should arc like that.
If no spark, replace it.
Good luck!

secondary voltage will rise untill that plug fires, with-in limits.
A spark will look very burnt and worn out before it can't fire,
If I knew what you were working on I could give better advise but
you problem is more than plugs, (module or coil perhaps)
