small engine repair

I have a sears snow blower that starts ok and runs only when it is fully choked, when I try to open the choke (butter fly ) the engine stalls. if I try to adjust any adj. screws it won' start at all. any clues to whats going on.

Post your engine's model numbers so we know what you have.
But the engine is probably Tecumseh, so remove the nut/jet
from the bottom of the carb and let any water/junk dribble
out. Look at the nut/jet and clean it thoroughly, look close at the
base of the threads, there , may be a tiny hole there, clean it
out as well and reinstall and see what happens. When you
remove this nut/jet fuel should dribble out so catch it in a can,
and look at it when you are done, it may have water and who
knows what in it. If this doesn't get it running, a full blown
carb rebuild may be in order, but post the engine's model
numbers so I can give you more accurate advice. Let us
know what you find.
