You may need to replace the seat as well. Also make sure the
float doesn't have any gas in it too.

Arrow Several Possibilities

Hello and Welcome Twainman to our Do-It-Yourself Web Site and my Small Engine forum.

As usual, Fisher offers you an excellent advice tip. Replace the needles seat within the carb body. DO NOT overtighten the seat when installing it if it's the screw in type. Seat it lightly but securely.

Another possible problem could be the floats level position. The float must be perfectly leveled to the carb body when held upside down so the needle is seated. If the float is not level, carefully adjust the center tab to correct the level.

Check the float for fuel. if it contains any, the float could have a tiny hole in it. When it fills it sinks allowing the needle to drop and fuel to flow into the bowl.

Another possible problem could be a restricted air vent intake in the carbs body. If the vent is restricted, the engine will run but not as it should and the carb bowl will or could flood.
