gas edger blade nut reverse thread?

i've got this old trusty gas edger with a stub of a blade i'm replacing...i don't want to strip the threads if they're reversed on edger blades as a rule...any help?...

I cannot say as a rule, but the few I have worked
on had left-hand threads. Out here in the sticks
there are few sidewalks and concrete drives, so I
do not see many.

i got it...used a torch to free the old nut up and it is a regular rightie tighty lefty loosy...the blade spins counterclockwise...if the blade was on the right side of the edger it would have to be a reverse thread config...

thanks for your timely input...
