Mower won't move

I have a 1995 M Wards riding mower. My son was riding it and all of a sudden it stop moving. I check the oil and it is fine. It has no problems starting up. What gives??????

Need more info. You say your son was riding it and it stoped. and you checked the oil. And it starts back up. So what stoped moving engine or the tractor. Is the Transmission a Hydro, Or gear modle, Id check the drive belt first itmay have broken

Your double sheathed pulley may just be stuck
if the belts look OK. Put the mower in park, engine
off, remove the cover where the forward/reverse
lever is, and you will see a double pulley, the center sheave
of that pulley is supposed to move up and down when you
go through the "gears".

Is it a variator drive unit? If so it is possible he stopped the thing and took it out of gear and shut it of with the speed control lever in a higher speed. After it stopped he could have put it in park. To correct the problem take it out of park and put it in high speed and carefully let out on the clutch. Later Butch
