Stihl 041 carburetor initial settings

Hey,

I'm restoring a stihl 041 chainsaw, circa '68. After rebuilding the carburetor and installing new diaphragms and some new fuel and vacuum lines, I'm having trouble getting things going again.

Where should I set the H and L screws to get things running?

I can get the idle to work, but opening the H screw seems to flood the engine quickly. I think I should recheck my needle valve...

Really, though, If I had some initial settings that I should start out with, this would be much easier.

Thanks,

Jason

Start with both @ 1 1/4 turns out, should be @ 1 turn
when you adjust it in.

That saw has an HS Tillotson carb. on it and the lever sets flush with the floor of the carb.. Did you hook the diaphragm in the fork in the lever? If not it will do this. Later Butch
