Operation conditions
Could anyone give me a good discription of a carburator running "lean" and "rich"? Aren't you in danger of overheating your engine if it's set too "lean"? How does the engine sound under too lean of a operation?

An engine running rich will sputter, smoke a little black smoke, be slow to respond to governor throttle-up. An engine running lean will easily die out under a load, get hot, spit, and often die when throttled up. The best advice i can give on setting mixture is back the screw out until the engine runs a little rough, then turn the screw in just until it runs right. Better a little rich than a little lean. Usually 1 1/2 to 2 turns out will be correct.
