timing

Hello: i have a 3.0 hp tecumseh motor that the camshaft gear on the crank broke, therefore the motor stoped. i have a new crank but not sure how to get the cam shaft back in time, there are marks on the crank gear and also on the cam shaft gear but what valves need to be open when the marks are lined up? the model no. is 143.711022, i am sure the marks would line up 1/2 turn off.
thanks for any information cork

The Marks will only line up in one spot, so you dont have to
worry.

Correct. As long as the marks are lined up, it doesn't matter if it is on the exhaust or compression stroke.
