Unhappy featherlite weedeater

I bought a weedeater (featherlite model - older) from a neighbor. It runs but I get a heavy vibration at low speeds and the shaft gets very hot - especially down near the trimming head. Any suggestions?

Hi joanb!

Sounds like the flex-cable needs lubrication and/or the shaft bushing is worn out. Remove the shaft from the engine and pull out the flex cable. It should be covered with grease. If not, coat it and put it back in. Let us know if that does it or not.

About the featherlite weedeater/aluminum eater.

You know when they say in the directions dont try to adjust the little orange knob on top of the carb, they say to leave it up to a pro???
Well last nite i wanted MORE POWER!! MORE RPMS!!!! so i thought i could do my own tweaking on it and it worked....................for 2 min. Ended up grenading the connecting rod/bearing/shaft and splitting the cylinder sleeve apart in one loud ka-boom.
Anyone know why i cant pull the rip cord more than one inch now???
LEARN from my 80 dollar mistake leave these new machines factory set. Unless ya know what your doing!! Unlike me.

Cheese thanks for the help with the 71 toro cleaned out bowl and it runs now off choke.

Take the shaft off and slide the cable out of it.
