vapor lock?

I have a new Murray model 205310x92 with a Briggs and Stratton Quantum 5.5 hp motor. When the motor gets hot the engine sputters and then quits as if running out of fuel. Whe engine cools it will restart. Can any one help????

Hello and Welcome lamaps to our Do-It-Yourself Web Site and our Small Engine forum.

I would highly doubt the problem is caused by vapor lock.
I would more likely suspect a restricted vent cap.

If air cannot enter the fuel tankto displace the fuel leaving, fuel cannot flow out. That could be similar to vapor lock.

When the problem occurs, remove the fuel tanks cap and restart the engine. Do this immediately after the engine dies out.

If the engine restarts quickly and continues to run, the caps vent hole is restricted. Clearing the air opening or replacing the cap will resolve the problem.

There was a gas tank seal evidently put in upon shipment and the vent was definetly sealed. Thanks a million!
