john deere

Hay guys I have a john deere tractor hydro 175 w/a fc 420 v engine that will not turn over. Batt. is good and i here a click when switch is turned. Starter is good and solenoid is ok. I think I am having a problem w/ one of the safety cut off switches. I don't have a wiring diagram and don't know where all the switches are. If someone could tell me where they are or send me a diagram or tell me how to bypass these switches I would appreciate it.
Thanks

Hello: fly944

I would not suggest nor will I instruct anyone how to bypass safety devices. However, if you use an ohm/volt meter and or a continuity checking light or device, it's very possible to locate a defective or inoperative safety device or any common switch.

In the case your describing, the desription indicates current is in fact getting to the starter solenoid based upon the clicking sound. This being the case, check for rusted and or corroded terminal connections, loose connections, frayed or corroded wires etc.

There is always the possibility the solenoid is defective and or the starter motor. Removal of the suspected parts and having them tested at any local dealers retail store or small engine repair shop may disclose the source of the problem.

Most likely I have not covered all of the potential problems. The other resident small engine service and repair professionals may offer additional suggestions, advice & help. Check back several times for additional replies.
