making wood look disstressed

How do I paint a wooden wheelbarrow so that it looks distressed or weathered.

Arrow Paint it like normal

Leave it outside for a month or 2

Maybe you could beat it on a rock. Oh wait, thats for denim and leather jackets.

What weathered look are you going for? The look that is in style at all the faux antique stores looks like the paint is wiped off at random places (regardless if actual wear would occur there) and "crackling" added to look like failing. Also, keep the color palatte to flat, bland colors like the milk paints of old.
