Spackled, sanded, and primed walls with sheetrock that is about 30 years old, and painted with semi-gloss paint. I used primer from Aboffs that doesn't require sanding on the paint surface before application, even though I did. I also, of course, sanded the spackle marks. My problem: Parts where the old paint started to peel away to expose the color underneath got worse when the primer went up. Also, in a couple of places, when the primer hit the newly spackled areas, it bubbled up and peeled right off. Since the walls are newly primed, do I need to now respackle all the places where the old paint peeled up, and also the spackle marks. The Primer covered them well, but you can still see the rips in the paint from the previous layer.....Sheetrock underneath was not harmed...still intact.

Hello all!! I have just purchased the disaster of all homes.....the biggest fixer in Southern Cal!! Nonetheless, it is mine, my first home. The previous owners have paint all the walls this horrid bright GLOSS BLUE. The ceilings are dirty and stained. Home Depot rents sprayers. How do they work? Has anyone used one? Is this a quick and efficient way to paint all the walls and ceilings?
