Dumb question but need answer

Remodeling old house. Painting baseboard where it meets carpet. I can keep carpet back with venetian blind slat trick but as I move along carpet will be released and contact newly painted area.

How do I keep the carpet from sticking to the freshly painted baseboards while waiting for the paint to dry???

You can purchase a product likely called carpet strips, which are flexible pieces of plastic about 3 feet long that tuck in behind the carpet and fold over the carpet about 2 inches...when the paint has dried, remove the strips.
