.......Masking tape will not stick!.....please help me

Hi all,
I am painting my son's bedroom and I am painting some stripes. I painted the base color and now I want to tape for the stripes and the tape will not stick. It is like someone waxxed the wall. I am using BEHR paint, matte finish latex.

That is perplexing. The blue painter's masking tape should stick to anything short of water.

I'm using the blue painters tape that I paid $8 for.

Is the tape sticky otherwise? If not, return it for a good roll.

Painter's tape won't stick

If wall was properly washed and prepped, fresh painter's tape should stick. If it does not, as suggested, return and go to a retailer that tends to have a high turnover of shelf products and purchase more tape.

Thank you to everyone.

I think that I figured out the problem. When chfite said, "The blue painter's masking tape should stick to anything short of water" I went into the room and checked the windows, they were very wet. I had the windows closed as well as the door to the room. This was trapping the moisture from the paint in the room. I left the windows open last night and this morning the tape sticks!

Thanks again all.

Masking tape will not stick

Brilliant, Sherlock! There must have been a lot of humidity trapped in the room.
