Question Painting unfinished wood white

I just bought an unfinished dresser and want to paint it white. I was searching the site and need to know if this is what I need to do. First, primer. Second, paint (any suggestions on type?). Third, gloss. Is this the right process?

Since it is unfinished, first wipe it down with mineral spirits to be sure and remove any oil or grease from handling it. Then prime, and paint. If it is pine, use a shellac based primer such as Zinser, or the knots will show through later. Two coats of paint. Gloss if you think that you can handle it. Most folks are successful with semi-gloss paint as it is more forgiving of brush marks than gloss paint.
