painting over semi-gloss

my kitchen currently has latex semi-gloss on the walls, and I have gone around and "scuffed" them up with fine grade sandpaper,........do I have to prime them now....I am going to repaint with latex semi-gloss

If the surface is clean, no. If you are going to make a great change in color, primer tinted toward the new color will help the coverage and perhaps reduce the amount of finish paint needed to have good depth.
