Talking Can I paint a crib?

Yes you can paint your crib. The MOST IMPORTANT thing to remember is to clean all surfaces with TSP and sand it really well. Use a good quality primer and let it dry for 24 hrs. Scuff the surface with 100 grit sand paper and paint it. Make sure the paint is specially formulated for children. Any good paint retailer can help you with your selection. It will be a little more expensive than ordinary wall paint but it's been tested for safety. After applying at least two coats of paint you should put a teething bar across the rails.

Yes, paint the crib. All modern finishes are non-toxic once dry. I painted one last year, and found that the semi-gloss paint looked very nice. It looked even better once my daughter put on decals for the baby. The teething rails were shot, but I found a source for replacment rails at http://www.rockler.com/ecom7/favorites.cfm?sku=1403
I am sure that there are other sources.
