painting exterior windows

I am repainting my exterior windows. I am using a very good primer first (maybe). What I mean is I have used two coats of white primer and it looks very good. My question, is there a problem with leaving a primer paint as the final coat. Anything to consider as far as what may happen in the long run? I was going to paint the final color white anyway.

The primer's role is to provide a bonding surface for the paint. Primer will not last. It is not a durable finish.

Hope this helps.
