Question Painting Laminated Kitchen Cabinets - did not clean!?!?

We just primed our dark laminated kitchen cabinets, but did not clean them first.....What's going to happen??? It's supposed to be a great primer...will it make a difference with the cabinets not being cleaned first? Should we take off the primer and start over??
Thanks for your help!

The kitchen is possibly the dirtiest room in the house because of the grease and grime in the air. The grease and grime will interfere with the bond formed by the primer. A aggressive primer such as Zinsser 123 will bond to most anything. It is difficult to forecast the results of priming over an unclean surface, but failure to adhere may result. If this results, the finish and primer will generally peel off the surface.

Possibly the best approach will be to remove the primer, clean the cabinets with TSP, mineral spirits, or such to remove all grease, grime, and dirt. Prime, then paint.

Hope this helps.
