Painting Brick House

I have an old brick house that was painted once upon a time. Most of the paint is now pealing off and some of the mortar is deteriorating. I have started to go through and remove the loose mortar and start tuck-pointing. My question is what is the best way to remove the old paint to get ready for the new paint job? The paint is in various stages of peeling and some of it is still in pretty good shape. I have tried scrapping it all, but that is a never-ending process. I thought about sand blasting, but I donít know what that would do to the clay brick. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

Yeah..A power washer should do the trick..Then give the walls a coat of masonary stabliser before redecorating walls. Its excellent stuff for paint to bond to.
