pulled off paper, and paint chipped behind it. now what ?

ok

we ripped off the old (metallic)wallpaper and there was the adhesive still on thewall.. when we ripped the adhesive off of the wall in some areas it ripped the paint that was on the way way in the past, off of the walls. but only in some spots.l

what i did now was take 60grit paper and sanded the ended of the chipped paint so it is smooth, but now i am afraid that when we primer the walls you'll be able to see the high and low spots of hte walls ..

am i correct by guesing this? or if i do a good enough job sanding it shouldn't be a problem?

is there a correct was to do it? or an easier way ?

any help is greatly appreciated

If there is a noticeable indentation left from the sanding, get a small container of non-shrinking spackle and fill the indentations, let dry, then sand with 150 grit paper. Prime the wall with Zinsser 123, then paint.

The defects in the wall will show up, so it is better to try filling them to smooth the surface. The Zinsser 123 will stabilize the surface to help avoid paint failure.

Hope this helps.
