Question painting a foundation

I just primed the foundation of my home that I only bought a year ago. The existing paint was in pretty good shape, just a few flakes here and there. I mostly decided to paint it because it was a little "dirty" in may places.

I scraped loose paint and the applied the primer (Behr latex-based). I have not applied the paint yet. My question is: do I have to apply paint? it looks OK just as it is with the primer. Not to mention its a pain to paint because i have slopes on both sides of my house.

Primer is not intended as a top coat. It will not hold up well exposed to the elements. I hope you cleaned the slightly dirty wall before priming.
