textured ceiling patch up

I painted my kitchen and accidently got some paint on the ceiling. I used a wet rag and wiped off the paint and slightly smeared the textured drywall. Is there anything I can do or use to patch this up?

You can use whatever the texture was made of, probably some sort of joint compound, or acoustical(?) material. Either way, repairing/matching texture is pretty darn hard to do.

sounds like a "popcorn" texture

That kind of texture is easily smeared by a wet rag. If so, its weasy to fix. Hardware stores even carry spray cans of the stuff. Just follow directions on the can.

Other textures I'm familiar with wouldn't be affected by wiping with a wet rag, especially if it was painted.

Good point Bobf. Just trying to make sure. The spray stuff should work in this case.
