Front Picture Window

i am in the process of repainting picture window casing from paint blistering from sun. i have sanded good & now need to prime before painting which primer is best to use a latex or oil base.
also when painting which is best for this application oil or latex.

Latex is better suited for wood because it allows transpiration and is flexible. The heat and cool of the outdoors in an area that receives a lot of sun causes a lot of movement.
