Painting technique called "radiance?"

Hello, I am hoping someone can help me with a technique called radiance/radiating. You start with a lighter colour then gradually add darker as you move up. Does anyone know this technique? do you need several colours for this or one-two?
Would like to do this in a bedroom but want to know how to properly do it.

Thankyou

Question

I assume you're not talking about the "low-e" insulating paint, but here's a link that may be useful to those who think you are: http://www.jas-mar.com/paint04.htm
