Living Room Painting

I need help!!!! I painted my living room using a satin finish paint in an antique rose color. I am not satisfied with the finish. I would like to lighten the color to an off white or peach color. I have even thought of sponging a lighter colored paint. How do I do this and do I have to use a satin finish? I do not like the satin finish at all.

many faux techniques

There are lots of faux techniques from color washing to rag rolling to sponge painting to ?????? Do some research and decide on what suits your tastes. Almost anything will work. A neighbor took an old 4" brush and trimmed the bristles. He used this to paint the walls. The result looked like a wallpaper print.

The top coat can be anything from flat to glaze.

What is it about the sating finish you do not like?
What brand of paint? With some brands, the satin is what other brands refer to as almost a semi-gloss.
