altering oil based paint

I would like to know if there is an additive or a method after application that will dull down the finish of oil based paint. A customer of mine asked me to build a false box beam for signage of vinyl letters to be applied by a sign co. The sign co. requested the beam be painted with Dunn's oil based paint the is only available in semi and high gloss. My customer wants it dulled to at least a satin sheen. Any help?

No way I know of to do this short of using a very fine steel wool to scuff it slightly.

I just thought too that you could rub it down with a deglosser or liquid sandpaper.
