Polyurethane on Bathroom Wall

I just painted my bathroom with an oil-based paint and want to add a layer of polyurethane to protect against water staining from humidity. Advisable?

It seems to me that the presence of so much water to make you worry about staining indicates that you need to control the water. Do you have an adequate exhaust fan to remove the moisture from the air?

A fan is always a good thing.
Use oil-based poly over the oil-based paint.
