Question Paint or replace laminate

I have a small vanity that is still in excellent shape, however I would like to either paint or replace the laminate to match my new bathroom makeover. Seems that to replace the old laminate would be a fairly easy job but painting would be easier yet and I would get the same affect. What paint would I use for durability?

the same effect? not hardly. if you've already done an entire bathroom makeover, don't drop the ball now. spend a few extra bucks & replace the vanity top. the cabinet builder we used for our kitchen countertops charged $30 per foot. if your vanity is only 3 feet long, you can have a nice new top for under $100. or you can buy premade laminated counters of various lengths. you may even consider tiling your top. will never be happy with painted formica!

however, if you must, see this thread on the same subject:

Prime with oil, finish with 2 coats of latex semi-gloss.

yes - replace

Its better to replace the laminate. You'll be happier in the long run. As Annette says, replace the entire top. Its not that expensive, especially compared to the rest of the makeover.
