painting textured ceiling

i made some necessary repairs to my textured ceilings, and now i want to paint them. they were made with thinned joint compound and some sort of patterned sponge or brush. i plan to use a flat, off-white paint. do i need to prime the ceilings first?

I would at least prime the repaired areas, if not the whole thing.

prowall,

pop over to framing & subflrs & see if that photo test link works for you pls

Sorry for the off post, do prime the whole ceiling & then paint, might even double prime the repaired area for best results.

I see the announcement, not sure what you want me to do after that.

Never mind, I figured it out.

The announcement thing is at the top of my forums I mod on, anyway you found the photo test, do you ck your PMs?

Sent one just now about the photo thing again & also had one about the true-tex I think it was called, mesh run between two layers of poly resin or something for repairing damaged walls.
