Silicone caulk mistake

I accidentally caulked with silcone caulk in some areas that need to be painted on the exterior of my house - specifically all around some new brickmold I installed. Do I need to remove this, or is there some way that it can be painted over??? I'm such an idiot!

I dont think I would bother trying to paint it. You could try a good primer to see if it takes, but I would probably just caulk over that silicone with painters caulking..and save yourself some time.
That will stick to the silicone caulking

I would prime the silicone with an exterior alkyd primer, then hit it with the latex finish paint.

Yep, but it can't hurt to wipe the silicone down with thinner first to remove some of the oils. Is it a permanent fix, no. But it will adhere stronger than latex paint or caulk.
