waterproof paint?

Is there a paint to use on primed wood that is waterproof? Here is why I ask: We have built a new tile shower enclosure and installed a glass block 1/2 wall using 2x4s to frame it. What can we do now to make the 2x4s waterproof or do we need to tile them?

Oil based semigloss will form a hard water proof finish although you may have water entering around the edges where the glass block is. Poly urethane will work, as will fiberglass resin or epoxy paints.

Use Kilz oil base primer for better water sealing capability. Latex semigloss will work but keep in mind water will go through (as vapor pressure) latex better than oil. You asked for best protection. Water based products are used in bathrooms every where with good results. Getting good adhesion is important so priming is the way to go.
