Store HVLP for short while without cleaning

Is there a way to store an hvlp sprayer without cleaning it between coats? I'm using oil-based paint and it takes a while and makes a mess each time I clean it. Don't know if there's a trick of the trade to store between uses without it getting gummed up.

Anything in the gun will set up in the 8 - 24 more hours it takes for the oil-based paint to dry enough to recoat. This is the down side of using oil based paints: difficulties in cleaning up afterwards.
