What is the best primer to put on stained
trim and cabinets in order to paint them..
I have used kilz before, but would one that
is soap and water clean up just as good?
A man at the paint store said that he
would recommend one that takes longer to
dry (than Kilz) because is drys slower and
has more time to soak into the wood?
Thanks so much!

What chance would the primer have to soak into the wood, if the satin and its protective coating haven't been removed? The two main purposes of primer are blocking (create an even surface) and to provide tooth (something for the paint to stick to). If you're at bare wood, by all means, use a good oil base primer. Otherwise, kilz should work just fine.
