I have been using Ralph Lauren metallics for some time now. These paints can be hard to find, but Sherwin-Williams can order. This paint can be rather expensive(35.00 to 75.00 per gal)but is the best I've seen. You can also use matallic glazes and put on with a brush like paint.Lowes has Valspar(in pints!) and any paint store should have something. These materials are water based.I would avoid oil based metal colors as they are hard to get a good job unless spraying. You will need to prime the trim with the appropriate primer tinted as closely to the top coat as possible. These metal finishes are very thin and if trim is way off in color may take many coats.Lots of luck and get back if any more ?'s...Mike
