Touching up paint. Can it be done?

Whenever I've tried to touch up paint, I get a shiny spot on the wall that is very obvious. I assume it's because there is an extra coat of paint and it reflects the light differently. Is there a method for touching up spots on the wall? A moth sacrificed itself on our freshly painted bathroom walls and I don't relish the idea of repainting the entire room, so please offer any advice you can. Thank you!

I understand what is happening to you.If you could give up some details like what is the sheen of the wall paint,I can assume you rolled it on and did you touch up with a brush? We touch up egg and shinier walls by roller and feather out some. This may show a day or two but will settle in and blend.
