We recently bought a home that was built in the '60's and the floor vents are mounted into the base boards and are extremely ugly. We are planning on installing wood floors and having painted white woodwork. I wanted to paint the vents so they would blend instead of sticking out like a sore thumb. How should I proceed?
Desperate.

I assume these are metal floor vents and you can remove them. Take them off, clean them and if there is any rust, get it off and prime with a spray rust preventative primer. Then srpay two coats of your finish on according to mfgs. instructions and reinstall them.
