Hi MIKE, thanx for the info and advice. The story is that I am trying to do a good paint job as I could to prove my wife otherwise.
So I am trying to get all right info regarding the basics of painting, so thanx again.
OK, what I mean by leveling the wall is that the surface should be smooth as well as leveled( stright no bumbs or indentations)that if you put a level to it in any direction the buble will always be in the middle.
The other issue is, what is an ideal paint for a baby's room ? Your advice was latex paint.
Thanx again.

As far as lumps, bumps, dents and holes, they are all repairable with drywall compound(mud). You load a 6 inch blade with a little and push it into the depression and pull most back off.Deep spots may take 2 or more coats due to shrinkage.Larger bad areas is about the same process only with an 8 or 10 inch blade. It is better to put on the mud and pull most off feathering as much as possible, than to leave high buildups and ridges that have to be sanded off. This will lead to more coats of mud but is far better than sanding for hours. As far as leveling a wall that is already up and drywalled with drywall tools is almost out of the question. This is best done in the framing stage. The paint for a kids room can be any latex you choose, though would avoid flat latex.Eggshell for the walls cleans as well as semi-gloss and looks far better.Semi-gloss is my choice for trim.I hope I didn't already give you these links but here they are to help with drywall stuff...............Drywall tools and materials: http://www.hometime.com/projects/how...l/pc2dry01.htm
