I'm trying to get a good finish in white latex on a cabinet/table. It was originally stained a dark brown by Ethan Allen. I sanded it, tack clothed it, and used Zar Antique white. It is terribly streaked. Can I use this as a primer and repaint with another latex product? Thanx

Hi Arline,I get from your question that you may have used latex paint as a first coat on your table. If you did it will probably not bond to the stain finish. If this is the case you will have to get it off to assure a lasting finish. This shouldn't be hard.May be able to wet it down for a little while and rag it off.If you think you may be OK to leave it,the answer to your question is yes.If you strip it,prime with an oil based primer followed by paint of your choice.
