Can anyone tell me how to repair a cracked fiberglass bath tub? The drain is located on the right side in the middle of the tub and a small crack has appeared running to the left. I have tried applying the fiberglass mix that has two parts that you mix together but it keeps on recracking(hope that's the correct word..lol)
Thanks

Eventually, sooner than later, plan on replacing the tub or having an insert installed. It's almost impossible to fix fiberglass from one side only, and that's one of the reasons it keeps cracking. Flexing when you sand and move on it plus expansion and contraction from hot and cold water contribute also.

How the fix proceeds depend on wether you have access from underneath or not. No access: the crack must be opened up. Then you need to inject foam insulation underneath. This will harden, providing solid backing. The foam expands considerably, so try not to overfill. Carve out excess foam. Somehow you need to get glass mat and resin under the underside of the tub and on top of the foam. This is the bottom side reinforcement. After that, either build to the original surface with mat and resin or resin alone. The last coat should be resin. Remember, use acetone to clean the area with, and sand each layer of resin before applying the next.
